Shadow Magic (Haven Series #3) ReviewThe writing style is slightly weaker in this one than in the previous two books. Some of the stock fantasy tropes get a little too much screen time, and I noticed several editing errors (missing words, homophones, inconsistent capitalization, etc.). That being said, it was still fun to read, and Dragon Magic (the next in the series) is a much stronger book.
In many ways, Shadow Magic is the final third of a single epic fantasy novel. There is a lot of action, and most of the main conflicts introduced in Amber Magic have some resolution by the end. You could probably stop reading after this one and not have it feel like watching The Empire Strikes Back without following it up with Return of the Jedi. You probably won't want to, though, and it is absolutely worthwhile to read the next book.Shadow Magic (Haven Series #3) OverviewIn Shadow Magic, the third book of the Haven Series, Herla of the Wild Hunt makes his move to gather all the Jewels of Power. Hunting down and killing those who wield them, the undead king is as relentless as death itself. He is not the only interested party, however, as several armies march to meet Brand and his allies in a desperate battle for control of the River Haven. Shadow Magic is a little longer than Sky Magic.
