Downfall (Dragonlance: The Dhamon Saga, Book 1) Review...I read this. Absolutely horrid. I read less than 100 pages before I got too disgusted to read anymore. The book doesn't contain any likeable or sympathetic characters. In fact, they're all terrible. I'm not sure which I hate the most: the wanna-be prostitute half-elf or the amoral "hero." The entire cast of "good guys" delights in cruelity without reason and bloodlust. Right, if I wanted to read about people like this, I'd buy Helter Skelter.Downfall (Dragonlance: The Dhamon Saga, Book 1) OverviewHow far can a hero fall?Far enough to lose his soul?Dhamon Grimwulf, once a Hero of the Heart, has sunk into a bitter life of crime and squalor. Now, as the great dragon overlords of the Fifth Age coldly plot to strengthen their rule and to destroy their enemies, he must somehow find the will to redeem himself. But perhaps it is too late.Downfall marks the return of Dhamon and other characters from author Jean Rabe's bestselling Dragons of a New Age trilogy.

Shadowrun #5: Aftershock A Shadowrun Novel ReviewI wasn't a huge fan of the book. I felt it did a good job setting up the Shadowrun world, but some of the characters beyond irritating.
You have a male elf who the author makes out as perfect. He's fighting small armies single-handedly and throws out terrible one-liners all while keeping a grin on his face. I hated everything about this character and his creepy, incestuous-implied relationship with his sister elf.
The male elf has a sister who is a caster. The irritating thing with movies/books that involve magic is it's like watching an episode of the old batman show; there is always a magic gadget (spell in this case) that saves the party from impending doom. It's nice to know that the caster can muster up powerful magic on a moment's notice that she has next-to-no experience with.
The orc hacker is odd - at best. She has no real purpose in the book except to make problems for the runners. She had potential to be interesting but gets all but written out of the book halfway through.
Not all of the characters are bad. Hood (troll), Roland (human), and Jhones (dwarf) kept me reading.
The story itself does a good job recreating the Shadowrun world. It's a silly at times and the ending was a little disappoint.Shadowrun #5: Aftershock A Shadowrun Novel OverviewThe troll known as Hood and his fellow Shadowrunners steal some biotechnological agriculture from the Plantech Corporation-only to find themselves framed for murder and tied to an even greater conspiracy.

Betrayal (DragonLance: The Dhamon Saga, Volume II) ReviewJean Rabe is probably one the most notorius writers in the Dragonlance world. People don't seem to like what her books tackled in her Dragons of a New Age trilogy. I for one am a fan of Rabe. I was immensly pleased with her DoNA books and looked forward to reading her Dhamon saga as soon as I had time.
This book starts where "Downfall" left off. Other than a short cameo in the beginning and end of the book by Rig and Fiona, the story mostly settles around Dhamon, Maldred, Riki, and an interesting draconian. Dhamon and Maldred are searching for a treasure, that when found, will hopefully help Dhamon find a cure for the cursed dragon scale in his leg.
"Betrayal" is full of enough adventure, excitement, backstabbing, and intrigue to keep any Dragonlance reader hooked. Rabe has really grown as a writer since her DoNA books. They just keep getting better. There are plenty of twists in this book to keep you guessing the whole time. The ending is a shocker and will easily keep you thinking about it until long after you are done, and will keep you begging for more. If you are a fan of Dragonlance, this book is a must.Betrayal (DragonLance: The Dhamon Saga, Volume II) OverviewHow much is an act of betrayal worth?Worth the price of a soul?Dhamon Grimwulf and his band of mercenaries greedily eye a long-forgotten treasure concealed beneath a grassy plain. Legends promise riches too numerous to count, wealth too grand to be believed. But in a shifting world of secrets and deception, such fortune comes at a high price, higher even than the searing agony Dhamon suffers under the curse of a dragon's scale.High enough to cost Dhamon his life. The paperback version of the sequel to Downfall, the first book of the Dhamon Saga. Betrayal continues the adventures of characters featured in the USA Today bestselling Dragons of a New Age trilogy.

The Day of the Tempest (Dragonlance: Dragons of a New Age, Book 2) ReviewThe dragons are portrayed better than the heroes. I can get behind Malystryx, destroy things. not much else about it. Khellendros is a little more complex, not much though, and I think the heroesare pitiful. They have no real backround, and the backround they give is always contridicting the ones revealed. This book shows no comparrison, what so ever to other dragonlance novels, like The Legend Of Huma (5 Stars). The best part of the novel was the dragons but I cant even say they were too well thought up or portrayed. The Day of the Tempest (Dragonlance: Dragons of a New Age, Book 2) OverviewThe Summer of Chaos has ended.Ansalon's nightmare has only just begun. The gods have departed the world, heralding a new Age of Mortals. But before the dust of war can settle, vast shadows cover the land. Dragons have come to Ansalon, larger and more powerful than any ever seen, and they will wreak havoc on nations still trembling from war. As the lands themselves begin to change under the dire magic of the new dragon overlords, new heroes arise to lead the fight for freedom.

The Silver Stair (Dragonlance Bridges of Time, Vol. 3) ReviewThis book was good and bad. I have a few bad things to say about it first. I didn't like how she broke her own rules of Krynn she put in her trilogy. Goldmoon was much to powerful for a world with more magic. It would probably take generations to get over the shock of the gods leaving and decades more of research to get clerical power. I understand a little magic, but it sounded as if she could beat Palin in a magical duel. Enough about magic, I found Gair's descent into evil much too quick and unrational. He didn't seem to have a reason to hate everybody all of a sudden. I haven't read the book in 6 moths, but if his reason was good I think I would remember it. Also, this isn't the best written book I have read it seemed too rushed. Now about the good parts in the book. It was a good fantasy with action, magic, and undead. A DL fan should read it, but I don't recoment it for anyone else. P.S. It was a good recovery for Jean Rabe after the FA trilogy. If she would have written another book like those I would have given up my faith in her.The Silver Stair (Dragonlance Bridges of Time, Vol. 3) OverviewFor Goldmoon and her followers, Schallsea Island is a place of bright beginnings. In the shadow of the magical ruin called the Silver Stair, a translucent spiral that leads to visions and revelations, they have started construction on the Citadel of Light. For the first time since the Chaos War, the future looks promising. But two forces challenge Goldmoon's plan to launch a new mystical order on Krynn -- one clad in the plate mail of a Solamnic Knight, the other hidden by mysterious magic and dark shadows.Jean Rabe's novel tells the compelling tale of the struggle to preserve the Silver Stair and to prevent the dream of Schallsea Island from becoming a nightmare.
