The Sundered Arms (Dungeons & Dragons Novel) ReviewWhen a chapter is titled "Dissention" (sic), you know the editor is asleep at the switch. There are unfortunately more instances of bad grammar, as well as a quote from The Empire Strikes Back that take this from an average dungeon crawl to less than average.
We have three returning characters, Devis the half-elf Bard, Vadania the druid and Lidda the halfing rogue. Vadania and Lidda are uncharacteristically besotted with Devis though they are both experienced enough to know better, particularly Vadania. Tordek a dwarven fighter is the new iconic addition and Vadania is given a wolverine companion.
That being said, the actual adventure is fairly good. Some really powerful enemies and enchanted weapons with a satisfying ending. It is really too bad that this series suffers from an editor who shows such disregard to the readers by allowing such continuity and basic english mistakes.The Sundered Arms (Dungeons & Dragons Novel) OverviewThis title chronicles the latest adventure of various iconic characters from the Dungeons & Dragons core rulebooks. This series of novels is designed to bring readers closer to the feeling of actually playing a D&D adventure. This eighth title in the novel line features, among others, the iconic character of the rogue, who appeared in two previous titles, The Savage Caves and Treachery's Wake.Andaron's Delve, a great dwarven stronghold ravaged by war, has for ages lain abandoned. Now, smoke once again pours from the immense furnaces, and goblins and beasts guard the ancient entrance. Evil is rekindled in the heart of the mountain and strives to forge anew Andaron's sundered arms.This time, it's about survival.

More Than Magick Review[Note: This review pertains only to the story "Magick Men" by Rhyannon Byrd.]
Magick Men: A Shot at Magick --
Lachlan McKendrick -- Scottish Warlock extraordinaire -- needs a woman, but not just any woman. Lachlan needs his soul mate, or else the spell that the High Council of Magicks has cast upon him will prevent him from ever having sex with a woman again! Unless, of course, he doesn't mind if she turns into an animal at the crucial moment ... Yes, a real, furry animal. You see, the Council is trying to encourage him to settle down and sire little Lachlans (or Lachlanettes). But Lachlan only has ... eyes ... for one woman -- Evan, the shapely American barista at the coffeeshop down the street. Unfortunately, Evan is a mortal woman, not a Witch, and Lachlan just can't bring himself to expose her to the danger of sex with him. Of course, Evan has other ideas...
This is one of the Ellora's Cave Quickies at a short 45 pages. It is rated E-rotic, and certainly lives up to its billing! For a short story, there is a lot of action. The sex scenes are very hot, with both hero and heroine enjoying each encounter thoroughly. While I thought it was a fun read, I have to admit that I thought the crude language a bit overdone. I don't mind "dirty talk" when it takes place in the midst of sex, but it seemed like every other word in the entire story was Anglo-Saxon. If you are sensitive to strong language, you might want to avoid this one.More Than Magick OverviewMagick Men - A Shot of Magick By Rhyannon ByrdLachlan McKendrick possesses a renowned sexual prowess impressive among even his own kind. But when the Scottish Warlock's family elders decide it's high time he stop sowing wild oats and begin planting a few Lach gets a load of magic like none he's ever known. A curse is placed upon his head, one that has some rather surprising effects on his legendary sex life. The only solution is to find his bith-bhuan gra his soul mate. And to make matters worse, he's become obsessed with a feisty American. It's bad enough that Lach cannot get the blasted woman out of his mind but she's mortal to boot!And he doesn't do mortals. At least he never has before, but the Scottish stud soon discovers that Evan Hayes has a magic that's all her own a woman's power to go after what she wants. Together they must challenge the formidable curse to discover that everlasting love can be found under the most magical of circumstances.Spell of the Chameleon By Titania LadleyIt's time to reverse the spell. Mia Foxe, High Priestess of the Chameleon Coven, isn't sure why, but there's an urgency suddenly within her. Going on instinct, she returns to the old ghost town of Perish, Massachusetts. Bane of Existence ReviewThis book may not be for everyone, after all it contains both drugs, death and same sex love, but I loved it. It is not a simple book, and the caracters in it does not have a simple road to follow. I love the complexity of Bane and Kel, and also all the other caracters. I find myself wanting to know what will happen to them next...

Elf Killers Review{On my review blog, I awarded this book 4 1/2 stars, actually}
E-book provided by the authors with no monetary award for positive review.
This debut novel, from the husband and wife team of Carol Marrs Phipps and Tom Phipps, is a fantasy delight for the reader who likes pure escapism when they pick up a book. Elf Killers is an Epic Fantasy following the adventures of young Elves who head out to rescue a group of Elven children who are snatched by Trolls while out in the woods. The Elves had been planning to pack up camp and take off on their ship for another land when the violence takes place, and the young male Elves embark on a long journey through the woods, through dark tunnels (with light courtesy of friendly Fire Sprites who light the way) and beyond the forbidding mountain, in search of the Troll camps. The book follows the tale of the Elves on their search, while alternating plot lines with the Trolls, who are portrayed as ugly, lacking in hygiene and manners, and barbaric hunters who prey on young Elves for dinner. There is a budding love triangle among the Elves and there is brutality when the two different worlds of Elves and Trolls collide, but most importantly,there is a satisfactory ending.
The authors use a special dialect for the novel with Trollish language and Elven Gwaelic words, but provide a glossary in the back of the book, which is fun to read, though I would suggest reading it before the story to immerse yourself easily into the plot. There are many characters introduced, so keep an eye on them as they make an appearance. After all is said and done, this is a mystical fantasy tale, a grown-up fairy tale of good vs evil, and an epic journey tale, which just happens to be with Elves, sprites,unicorns and trained falcons. If you enjoy pure, magical fantasy of this nature, the Elf Killers are waiting for you! I recommend this book!
Rae, Best O' Books ReviewsElf Killers OverviewIt is the very worst time to be in the woods. Oisin's plan is to come with his bow to help Aedan and Doona lead a party of children into the forest to gather the maidenhair seedlings his people would take across the sea as they flee the trolls who hunt them as prey. Maybe he can be back in time for supper. Dyr's plan is an early evening head smash for the foolish Elves who think they can steal away to the sands of the endless eye sting water and build their strange float huts. They will make a glorious feast. But on the way, Dyr's brutes stumble across Oisin's gathering party and attack, leaving Aedan mortally wounded and scattering Doona and the children to flee in terror into the dark mountain woods, only to be run down and captured by the bloodthirsty trolls. Can Oisin find the bonfires of the trolls and rescue them before it's too late? And what then? Will any of them live long enough to reach safety?
