World of Warcraft: Stormrage ReviewThis book does a few things really well and a lot of things wrong which is why I'm giving it two stars.
On the up side the author clearly did their homework on the WoW world. Lots of names and locations pop up in the story and I really liked that I could go "Oh, my character has been there!" or "The person gave my character a quest." So it's pretty easy to get into the world and get excited about the backdrops.
Now without going into major spoilers there were also lots of nice moments mixed in like people from all the races having to band together to fight a common threat (WoW loves that theme), getting to see a runestone in a story and the short but very cool appearance by Sylvanas Windrunner.
So while the feel of the WoW world is really well done the characters and the story aren't. Some of the most powerful people in WoW are taking on a single threat that they end up being able to do almost nothing about. Until the very end pretty much everyone is at best holding line or running away. Seriously, the heroes of this novel run away in the course of one story than Shaggy and Scooby do in the whole history of Scooby Doo.
It got to the point where the last 100 pages where just a slog and I was happy to just be done with the book so I could go read something else. "Lord of the Clans" this ain't.

WarCraft Archive ReviewThe Warcraft Archive is nice just because it's a cheaper alternative to purchasing all the books contained within, however none of the stories will leave you either amazed or enthralled. If you're a big fan of the Warcraft universe like I am then you'll want to pick this book up just read some of historic bits and pieces, and also to immerse yourself into the world of Azeroth. Unfortunately story quality leaves a lot to be desired - treat your expectations for the Warcraft Archive like any other "book set in video game world" and you won't be disappointed.

The Sundering (Warcraft: War of the Ancients Trilogy, Book 3) ReviewBased on the other reviews, I am in the minority on this but I found this whole trilogy a massive disappointment. I can only assume that others liked these books because they were so entranced by the lore, that they overlooked the many deficiencies. I've read a lot of fantasy novels, some good, some bad, and this was among the very worst. The only reason I slogged through this tedious, poorly written trilogy was to get at the lore, most of which is merely hinted at in the game.
Knaack is either a poor writer, or simply wrote this as a work-for-hire and gave it only the minimum attention required to get his pay check. The quest text and cutscenes in World of Warcraft are better scripted and edited than this novel. His syntax is frequently atrocious. One jarring example came early in the first book, when he describes a dragon aspect as "humongous". This word is pure 1960s slang, on a par with "ginormous", and is a poor choice to describe the majesty and scale of the Titans' hand picked guardians of Azeroth.
His characterization is paper thin. Only Broxigar stood out as having any depth, a warrior suffering survior's guilt and feelings that he is not worthy of the accolades bestowed on him by Warchief Thrall and others. Shandris Feathermoon was intriguing but never really got enough time on the page to develop. Azshara, queen of the night elves, is vapid, self absorbed and easily duped. Malfurion and Tyrande, while likable enough, are mostly characterized by the fact that their intentions are always good, and they always do the right thing. They are heroes, yes, but they're never really conflicted or complex enough to be very interesting. Sargeras, as a rogue Titan, could have been interesting, but his history, motivations and character were barely touched on; the WoWWiki article does a better job of conveying the character, a dutiful champion of the Titans, who after millennia despairs of his task and slips into madness. In the book, he is a one dimensional anarchist intent merely upon destroying all life.
His plotting is mediocre and meandering, consisting of the heroes running between various points in Kalimdor, never quite accomplishing what they set out to do, and returning in time to prevent the succession of battles from turning into complete defeat. In this he gets a partial dispensation in that he is constrained not to step too far from the boundaries of known WoW lore. This fault taken by itself would not damn the whole. But taken with his other deficiencies, however, this was simply the final nail in the coffin.
Some may argue my expectations for a novel based on video characters is too high, but I'd counter that the depth of the narrative and characterization of WoW is a huge part of its success. A novel offers so many options for extending the depth and breadth of what is often only hinted at in the game, that it ought to do a better job than the video game. Knaack had three novels to work with, but failed to improve in any way upon what came before.The Sundering (Warcraft: War of the Ancients Trilogy, Book 3) OverviewThe hour of wrath draws near... Day of the Dragon (WarCraft, Book 1) (No.1) ReviewI am pleased to say, and surprised to find myself saying, that Day of the Dragon far exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. I was skeptical when I picked this novel up off the shelf - I expected typical fantasy series fluff, meaning mediocre writing, little plot, and adequate characters. However, the world of WarCraft has been well and lovingly developed by Blizzard since day one, so there was an abundance of backstory to draw on - and draw on it Knaak did. As has been noted by other reviewers, this story starts a little slowly and overwhelmingly simply because of the sheer amount of backstory dumped on the reader. Fortunately, this information is buffered by a much more complex plot than I would have had expected, engaging characters, and solid if not exactly evocative writing.
Picking up sometime not too long after the events of the game WarCraft II (you certainly need not have played the game to understand the book, but having played it sure adds some depth to this novel), the Orcs have pretty much been beaten. Most of them are held in internment camps, but those still holding their conquered lands are fighting every step of their retreat. Their one true asset is the Dragonqueen, a dragon that they captured during the war, and have been breeding for dragons with which to terrorize their human, elven, and dwarven enemies. Enter Rhonin. A maverick Mage, he has been an outcast since his last mission ended in disaster. He is sent on a quest to observe the Orcs' movements by the Magi council, and on an additional, secret quest by one of the head Mages - to free the Dragonqueen, thus ending the Orcs' airborne reign of terror (and in the process redeeming his own failure and allowing him to regain a position with the Magi). Meanwhile, a mysterious nobleman, Lord Prestor, plays the leaders of the Lordaeron Alliance like instruments, bending them to his will and having himself named heir to the Lordaeron throne. Moreover, and perhaps worst of all, chaos-loving Black Dragon DeathWing is up to something, which can only mean no good for the forces of humanity. As all of this ties together, we get a solid novel with good character development, great suspense, and a slam-bang climax.
I had only two qualms with this novel. One was the lack of any sort of cartographic assistance. In the WarCraft II manual there was a perfectly good map - one to which I found myself constantly referring to figure out exactly where various events were taking place. It would have been a simple matter simply to include the map in the front of the book. My second problem is humor. Though the WarCraft games told a serious story, the games themselves were loaded with humor, none of which makes its way through to this book. It would have been a nice touch just to hear a character spontaneously shouting, "Stop poking MEEEE!" Make that three qualms. I thought that the obvious and almost obligatory love emerging between Rhonin and Vereesa was not handled well. It seemed more like a lust/duty relationship than any kind of true love.
This book paves the way for the canceled-game-cum-upcoming-novel Lord of the Clans, and has a whole bunch of hints and foreshadowing towards the forthcoming game WarCraft III. Overall, I'd say Richard Knaak has interpreted the world of WarCraft perfectly, with the result being a surprisingly good, engaging, and interesting fantasy adventure novel. Hopefully the next novel in the series will be this good. The Demon Soul (Warcraft: War of the Ancients, Book 2) ReviewAfter reading the first book, the Well of Eternity, I was very interested in contiuuing the series. Althought I thought that the story line of the book had many parallels to the game, warcraft 3, for anyone who has played the campaigns, it was written exceptionally well. He jumps around alot so it makes you not want to put the book down, as you never know what exactly comes next, even with having played the game I was surprised by how the book kept my interest. Knaak is an excellent writer and this flows right from the previous book. World of Warcraft: Night of the Dragon ReviewFirst off, I really like Richard Knaak as an author, and I love the Warcraft books in general. However, this book seems really rushed, and the plot suffers for it.

Pluses:

-Knaak has given us some great characters, and its fun to read about their contining adventures.
-Fast paced story. I was able to knock it out in no time. The story keeps moving without any slow sections.
Minuses:
-Weak plot. All the characters were brought together haphazardly.
-Typical plot devices are used. Knaak suffers from the same issue that Tolkien had with Gandalf in LOTR. He created a character powerful enough to pull the protagonists out of any situation, but in doing so, he has to create reasons that character isn't always there (or is weakened) so they don't always save the day.
-New characters are 2 dimensional. didn't care about 'em at all. Very simplistic backgrounds and motivations.
On the whole it was a good book, and I will read the next one in the series, but I hope it's a little better thought out.

The Well of Eternity (WarCraft: War of the Ancients, Book 1) ReviewFirst, I highly recommend that you read Warcraft: Day of the Dragon (another Knaak book) before this one. Think of it as a sort of prequel to the War of the Ancients trilogy, like The Hobbit is to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Not that I'm comparing the book to LotR. It's not an amazing, genre-defining work, but it's a whole lot of fun for Warcraft fans and fantasy fans.
It's filled with lots of interesting characters - not just Krasus, Rhonin, and Broxigar, but also some familiar names from the games: Furion, Illidan, Tyrande, Cenarius, and others that I won't spoil. It deals primarily with the Night Elves, and details the Burning Legion's first invasion (the second and final was covered in Warcraft III). It also tells a lot about the Dragon Aspects, the 5 caretakers of the planet.
This isn't just a slow build-up to the next two books in the trilogy. It's full of amazing and important events and battles, and leaves you wondering where it could possibly go in the second and third books.
All in all, this is a great start to what will probably be an even greater series. World of Warcraft 2: Draenei Paladin Deluxe Collector Figure ReviewMy first World of Warcraft character was a Draenei Paladin, and remains my favorite to this day. I immediately purchased this statue (it really shouldn't be called a figure) when it came out. The detailing is wonderful, absolutely perfect, right down to satchels on his belt, chainmail underlay between the gaps in the plate armor, leather buckles between segments of plate, and the golden trim of his cloak. I wish my paladin in game looked this cool.
That said, there is one major pain, the Hammer of the Naaru he wields is extremely fragile. Even if you put it together right, if he gets knocked over once, the head will break off. its nothing a little superglue can't fix but I have had to repair it three times now. Overall I'd still say a great figure, I just wish that the hammer was made of two pieces instead of the fragile three that it is.
I have many World of Warcraft figures now, but none are as impressive as this paladin. If you are a fan of the Draenei you will love having Vindicator Maraad here standing proudly on a shelf or desk.World of Warcraft 2: Draenei Paladin Deluxe Collector Figure Overview

World of Warcraft Deluxe Collector Figure: Illidan (Demon Form) ReviewThis is the deluxe collectible action figure, the demon-lord Illidan, in the World of Warcraft storyline. Those who are familiar with the Burning Crusade expansion will be very familiar with this character and his place in the game lore. In a nutshell, he is a former Night Elf that was so consumed with power that he betrayed his own kind (all of Azeroth really), became a sorceror, and now terrorizes Outland from his evil dwelling called the Black Temple. As for the figure itself, it is on par with the best models in the WoW collector line. The quality of the sculpt is great, and I was surprised by the ability to manipulate a few points of articulation: the head and fist weapons.
First of all, this figure has an included base, and even though it is a plain black dial, with no special features, it makes the model very sturdy for display purposes. If you have any of this series (or the earlier ones), you will know that there have been complaints about the action figures not standing on their own too well, often falling over at the slightest movement of the surface you display them upon. This is very true on many of the line, but it appears that DC Limited has taken note of this complaint and provided a good base to prevent tipping. Though I would like to see some improvements now on the base itself, perhaps taking a page from McFarlane or other companies that make collectible action figures, and add some detail to the base to improve the overall display. However, simply including a base is great news for the series as they have been plagued with issues as some of the others simply won't stand on their own.
You will need to attach his wings when removed from the box, but the fit was perfect and it simply looks amazing when displayed. I tested the fit by 'shaking' the figure after attaching the wings, and they stayed perfectly in place. His fist weapons can also be removed, or 'folded out' for a different look. This, and a head that can be turned, were surprises for me. Creating a few points of articulation is a great addition to the figures, and I hope the trend continues.
If you are an avid fan of World of Warcraft, I highly recommend this figure to remind you of the great adventures you have in the computer game. If you are just an avid collector of quality fantasy figures, World of Warcraft player or not, this would be a great addition to your collection. World of Warcraft 2: Troll Priest: Zabra Hexx Action Figure ReviewI just love this figure. It is one of my favorites and the one that costs less. It is plain wonderful. So much, I bought a couple for some friends.
The art is wonderful, the details are awesome. It stands on its own. And no, trolls are not my favorite race on Wow.
I passed by and noticed a review about it having standing issues.
First of all, most Wow action figures has standing issues. That means, most of them will have a 0.5% over time to fall.
I have owned series 1, 2, and 3 over 5 months. Figures with standing issues are: Valeera (female blood elf rogue), Illidan, the undead rogue (it stands perfectly at the beginning, but over time somehow it has lost its balance), and the draeni female (it has to touch the wall).
The troll, I think, fell once at the beginning. When you find out how to balance it (and it didnt take much), it kept stable.
I can say that, at least 2 toys over 6 months, I had no issue with balance.

World of Warcraft Series 3 Draenei Mage Action Figure ReviewThis figure is really a beautiful item and would look quite nice on anyone's shelf. There is one problem though--the sword. Mine was stuck as one piece when I got it (probably by the painting process) and so, when I tried to detach the bottom part to place it in the figure's hand, it broke off. Some super-glue fixed that right up. You might want to be very very careful when attaching the sword hilt to the figure's hand. Warcraft Shandris Feathermoon Night Elf Archer Figure ReviewI am a longtime Warcraft fan and have collected the related figures since the first ones were released in 1998. When I heard that three new ones were coming out; based on Warcraft III: Prince Arthas the Death Knight, Tichondrius the Darkener, and Shandris Feathermoon Night Elf Archer, I couldn't wait to get them. I have to say, that although they are all very cool, they don't measure up to the previous batch. Blizzard went with a new manufacturer with these, and the quality just is not even close to the previous ones. If you're a Warcraft fanatic, they will be cool additions to your collection, but do what you can to get your hands on the hard to get, unfortunately discontinued, previous three: Thrall(Orc), Muradin Bronzebeard (human) and Furion Stormrage (elf). World of Warcraft Series 1 Valeera Sanguinar Blood Elf Rogue Action Figure ReviewAt the time I got Valeera action figure, I gave it 2 stars.
I began my collection of WoW action figures, and this was the last one I got.
This is by far the cheapest single action figure made in the series. While the visual concept and the looks (from far) seems cool, at close you can notice that there was little love when making the details, it is poorly constructed, there were errors in the painting, the sword was a horrible looking.. it looked like a "toy sword", instead of a "real sword".
I put a stop to my prejudice and included this figure to my collection set. The problem is that it had some problems standing on its own (if you notice carefully in the product image, it has 2 circular transparent plastic panels at its feet that works as support). Anyways, it could stand on its own, and I went away, kind of happy...
2 weeks later, the toy began falling, lost its balance, the feet panels were kind of umbalanced. My quick solution, after many falls, was to put the draeni action figure panel on 1 foot, as aditional support. It worked, still does.
You know, the prob was that, the total weight of the toy, over time, made it bend. (Same issue has the Illidan figure - also from Series 1 - because the weight of the wings at the back is too much).
So, it bends, and today, I noticed Valeera is almost kissing the ground now. It has been 3 months after I purchased it (was brand new).
I uploaded a photo on the image product gallery. I hope it goes thru.
Overall opinion: if you are a collector, and decide to keep top quality on the Wow Series, skip this one. It is the only one that it doesnt fit on quality. Seriously.World of Warcraft Series 1 Valeera Sanguinar Blood Elf Rogue Action Figure Overview

I still like what i got, but what you see in the picture is much better, the pose is more dynamic. World of Warcraft Night Elf Latex Prosthetic Kit ReviewThey're not as nice as I expected, but they'll due for the price (10$). They are difficult to slip on the ears and are a bit bulky on the lobes. As in bulky, I mean, you can see the prosthetic ear lobes along my cheek. They also don't seem to stay on very well because they're held to your head with a very thin elastic band.
These would be okay for a low budget costume, but I wouldn't recommend these if you're shooting for a legit costume or cosplay. I suggest spending extra bucks (about 40$) on latex prosthetics if you want it to look real.
